THE STORY BEHIND THE CLOTHE A CHILD CHARITY PROGRAMME
“COVER THE WOUND. HEAL THE HEART.”
The Clothe a Child Charity Programme was born from one child's painful story.
In 2025, Mr. Isaac Ojwang, Founder of Legacy Christian Children’s Foundation Uganda, encountered a young boy in Adok Sub-county who had been badly beaten by members of the community after being accused of stealing a T-shirt that belong to a community elder.
Instead of simply condemning the child, Mr. Isaac intervened. He rescued him and paid for the stolen T-shirt. But he did not stop there. He wanted to understand why a child would steal a T-shirt.
What he discovered broke his heart.
The boy was an orphan. His father had died during a domestic conflict, while his mother was on remand waiting to be charged for the crime of killing her husband. He was the eldest of seven children—six boys and one girl—and was struggling to care for his younger siblings despite being a child himself.
Mr. Isaac realised that the T-shirt was not the real problem.
The real problem was a child trying to survive without the love, protection and support of his parents.
That experience led to further research and community visits, revealing many more painful stories: a six-year-old girl who had reportedly been born and abandoned in a pit latrine and later rescued to live with her a kind woman she now calls her grandmother; a five-year-old girl in Bardyang Parish who was left stranded after her father died by suicide when he failed to manage a serious depression from the departure of his then wife who left for another relationship; teenage mothers struggling to raise children alone; children with disabilities; and many orphans and vulnerable children living without adequate basic needs.
These stories became the foundation of the Clothe a Child Charity Programme, a programme under Legacy Christian Children’s Foundation Uganda, a registered non-profit organisation working to restore hope and support vulnerable children and families in Uganda.
MORE THAN CLOTHES
Clothe a Child is not simply about giving clothes.
It is about standing in the gap of a parent.
Where a child has lost parental love, we want them to experience care.
Where poverty has taken away dignity, we want to restore it.
Where there is pain, we want to bring healing.
Where there is hopelessness, we want to help a child believe in tomorrow again.
Since its establishment in 2025, more than 600 children have benefited from the programme. This includes 14 children with disabilities and 87 teenage mothers, who have received items such as soaps, sanitary materials, towels, psychological support and other forms of assistance.
Every child reached represents more than a number.
Every child has a story. Every child matters.

To see every vulnerable and fatherless child clothed with dignity, surrounded by love, and walking with hope, knowing that they are valued, cared for and not forgotten.
OUR MISSION
To stand in the gap for vulnerable and fatherless children by providing clothing, love, care and practical support, while mobilising individuals, families, churches, organisations and communities to become part of restoring the dignity, confidence, healing and hope that these children deserve.
